One of the most common traits among successful people is a routine. You've heard, I'm sure, that one of those routines include making your bed first thing in the morning. A simple task yet it can be profound for setting yourself up to conquer the day ahead.
Having a routine for the morning as well as mapping out your day can also be highly beneficial. Here are some of the things I do to start my day.
This might be too early for some people, and too late for others. It really just depends on what your schedule looks like, how your internal clock runs, and most importantly, what time you go to bed.
Waking up at 5:30am doesn't mean I'm losing the right amount of sleep. I'm going to bed usually at 10pm. So the hours of sleep are there. However, the reason I like this wake-up time is it allows me to get a few things done in the "silence of the morning" before the day starts for everyone else.
I do a 20-minute Peloton ride first thing in the morning. It's better than coffee! An exercise early in the morning is quite beneficial to your mind and body. For me, when my blood is flowing, my mind is clear and concise.
Waking up and jumping on the bike for exercise can be a jolt to the system...in a good way. But I also like to follow it with a ten-minute meditation. This allows me "empty the trash" so to speak. Think about your computer's home screen. Thumbnails of past projects stretching from side to side. With meditation I'm able to drag those over to the trash and empty it, creating more room in my head for today and future tasks.
I have a few daily affirmations that I write along my wall. It's good to visually see them. Now that I've cleared the cache on old files, I can fill up the space with some positive thinking. Don't let negative thoughts live in your head rent-free. After all, I'm an apartment investor and realtor, and that's just bad business.
